The Dunarobba Fossil Forest first came to light towards the end of the 1970s during quarrying to extract clay for bricks used in construction. The fifty or so vast conifer trunks that are currently visible are an exceptionally rare example of plants dating between two and three million years ago, during the Pliocene Epoch. The Filo d’Oro Avigliano embroidery association, founded in 2003 with the aim of safeguarding the strong local tradition in embroidery founded in the 1930s by Sister Giacinta, will be running embroidery classes in a variety of techniques and for all levels of proficiency from May through to September.
