SPORT - Golf in Umbria

As a sporting discipline, golf has frequently been unjustly branded as suitable for portly, middle aged gentlemen with money to spend and little inclination towards any real physical activity. It is, on the contrary, an extremely healthy sport, not least on account of the considerable distances golfers are required to walk – an 18-hole course involves a walk of roughly ten kilometres.

Although golfers often play by themselves, there is a fair degree of competitiveness in the game. With regards to other sports, golf also has the advantage of generally being held in structures that are versatile, allowing the golfer’s family and friends to enjoy other activities such as swimming or tennis.

In Umbria there are a number of well equipped golf clubs, at Santa Sabina near Perugia and at Panicale, not far from Lake Trasimene. A promotional course is also available at Caldese, near Città di Castello, while a number of practice courses are scattered throughout the region.

Golf Club Lamborghini Panicale (qualified)
9 double departure holes, mt 5720, Par 72, SSS 70. 20-position driving range, 8 covered holes, putting green, pitching green, artificially lit practicing range. The club also has a bar, tea room, card playing room and a billiard room.
Open all year round except from January 19th to February 7th.
Closed Tuesdays (unless a bank holiday) from October to March.

9 holes. Par 18. Driving range, putting green, swimming pool. Open all year round. Closed Mondays unless a bank holiday.

9 holes, mt. 1160, Par 29. Putting green, pitching green, bar, buvette, covered range, bunker, 10 tennis courts, 3 swimming pools (of which one covered), gym, sauna, club house with bar and restaurant.
