Foligno - Keeping Up a Footpath for a Day with CAI

CAI and its activities
The main aim of this association is to increase awareness of this area's mountain terrain through a series of sporting activities ranging from excursions to trekking, mountain climbing for young and old, climbing and skiing. The association organises classroom course and on-site expeditions.
On the nearby Monte Subasio only there are 11 marked footpaths that connect all of the area's inhabited towns.
The Foligno-Terontola and the Foligno–Ancona railway lines run around the Monte Subasio, stopping at Assisi, Spello, Capodacqua P.F., Valtopina, Nocera.
The Foligno section of CAI has just published a booklet entitled Sentiero degli ulivi that covers a path running through the olive groves, from one Medieval castle to another, that can be covered either on foot or by mountainbike.
Every month Cai organises excursions of varying difficulty levels. A good state of health is a must, as listed in the REGOLAMENTO delle ESCURSIONI of the Foligno section.
Each person is expected to be physically independent. The organising members take care of the organising and logistics of the expeditions.
Only members and guests invited by members are admitted to the expeditions. Annual quotas for 2003 are listed below:
ORDINARY MEMBER (born prior to 1985) € 31
FAMILY MEMBER (anyone living with the ordinary member) € 16
YOUNG MEMBERS (born after 1986) € 11
