(1) - Steve McCurry in Perugia
Perugia. The highly acclaimed American photographer Steve McCurry will be showing his works in the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria from April 11th to September 5th following the success of his Milan show which attracted over 120,000 visitors.

(2) - To Montelabate with Monti del Tezio
Colle Umberto (PG). A trek to Montelabate, to visit the abbey and the castle, has been scheduled by Monti di Tezio for September 5th. No particular difficulties - suitable for all.

(3) - Five Sunday Jaunts Outside Perugia - San Martino dei Colli
Perugia (PG). The third in a series of five Sunday jaunts out of Perugia to admire the hidden wonders of five neighbouring villages (Mugnano, Montepetriolo, San Martino dei Colli, Poggio delle Corti, Fontignano) and taste their typical local cuisine will be on September 5th with San Martino dei Colli.

(4) - Scartocciatura Festival in San Martino in Campo
Perugia, loc. S. Martino in Campo. Intended also as a festival of local farming traditions, the scartocciatura derives from the act of peeling the dry leaves off the corn and is believed to bring good luck for next year's harvest. San Martino in Campo will be bringing the tradition alive from August 27th to September 5th.

(5) - Recently Attributed Peruginos on Show in Perugia
Perugia. A show featuring four small paintings on wood that have recently been attributed to Perugino has been organised to run from July 2nd to September 5th in the Cappella dei Priori of the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria. The four paintings will be presented alongside a reconstruction of the Pala dei Decemviri altarpiece and have been dated as being of the artist's late production. The paintings depict St Jerome, St Nicholas, the Archangel Gabriel and a female martyr saint.

(6) - Umbricelli Sport Festival in Capanne
Perugia, loc. Capanne. This year's edition of Umbricelli Sport will once more be offering visitors a combination of sporting events and good food. In Capanne from August 27th to September 5th.

(7) - Festa dell'Unità in Pian di Massiano
Perugia, loc. Pian di Massiano (Pg). Pian di Massiano will be holding its Festa dell’Unità from August 27th to September 12th, with its usual combination of political debates, meetings, music and food stands.

(8) - Open Air Summer Film Showings at the Frontone Gardens
Perugia. From mid-June through to mid-July there will be nightly showings of films from the past season at the open air cinema installed in the Frontone gardens. Consult the detailed programme.

(9) - Nature Documentaries Showing at the Monti del Tezio Association
Colle Umberto (PG). The Monti del Tezio association has scheduled an evening of showings of nature documentaries by Riccardo Truffarelli for September 17th.

(10) - Storie di Ville e Giardini Houses and Gardens of Umbria
Perugia. Started in 2005 and organised by the tourism office of the Provincia di Perugia, the Storie di Ville e Giardini series of free guided tours to houses and gardens in the region will run from June 19th to September 18th.

(11) - Sagra Musicale Umbra
Perugia. This year's edition of the Sagra Musicale Umbra, which ranks as the oldest music festival in the region, will be devoted to the compositions of Pergolesi, Cherubini and Schumann and will run from September 11th to 19th in a number of venues across the region.

(12) - Economics and Industrial Policy Conference in Perugia
Perugia (Pg). This year's edition of the economics and industrial policy conference, organised annually by the magazine L'Industria, will take place in Perugia with the collaboration of the Universiy of Perugia on September 24th and 25th. This year the conference will be entitled "L’Italia fuori dalla crisi. Il posizionamento competitivo dell’industria italiana".

(13) - Five Sunday Jaunts Outside Perugia - Poggio delle Corti
Perugia (PG). The fourth in a series of five Sunday jaunts out of Perugia to admire the hidden wonders of five neighbouring villages (Mugnano, Montepetriolo, San Martino dei Colli, Poggio delle Corti, Fontignano) and taste their typical local cuisine will be on September 26th with Poggio delle Corti. Departure is at 10am from Piazzale del Bove, to be back by around 6.30pm.

(14) - Your Favourite Place in Italy
Perugia. The nationwide competition launched by FAI and entitled "Vota il luogo italiano che vuoi far conoscere e amare. Insieme lo proteggeremo" will run from May 7th to September 30th. The idea is simple - you have to think of a place in Italy that is particularly dear to you and submit it to the competition organisers. The winning entries will receive particular attention and conservation initiatives.

(15) - Up Monte Acuto with Monti del Tezio
Perugia (PG). The Monti del Tezio association has scheduled a trek up Monte Acuto and Monte Corona for October 3rd, to visit an isolated hermitage and return along the valley of the River Nese.

(16) - Associazione Italiana Sommeliers Conference in Perugia
Perugia. From September 30th to October 4th the AIS (Italy's sommelier association) will be holding its national conference in Perugia, with over 600 sommeliers from across the country expected to attend. The event will be held right in the centre of town, in the Sala dei Notari.

(17) - Nature Documentaries Showing at the Monti del Tezio Association
Colle Umberto (PG). The Monti del Tezio association has scheduled an evening of showings of nature documentaries by Riccardo Truffarelli for October 8th.

Colle Umberto (PG). The Monti di Tezio association has scheduled a trek to visit the imposing Castle of Antognolla, overlooking the valley under Mount Tezio, for October 24th.

(20) - Eurochocolate 2010
Perugia. Over the years Eurochocolate has developed into one of the main attractions for tourists visiting Perugia. This year's edition, which will run from October 15th to 24th, will present the novel idea of decentralising the event, offering the public a chance to enjoy a better organisation whilst discovering areas of the city not normally on the beaten tourist trail.

(21) - Monti di Tezio Association Castagnata
Colle Umberto (PG). The Monti di Tezio Associaiton has scheduled its seasonal Castagnata for November 12th, to welcome in the encroaching winter with a warming chestnut feast.

(22) - Palazzo Sorbello Museum Opens New Sections to the Public
Perugia. As from June 15th the newly refurbished and extended exhibition area of the Palazzo Sorbello museum will be open to the public, offering longer opening hours, new opbjects on display and new rooms to explore, followed by a stop at the bookshop and a cup of tea or a bite to eat on the terrace overlooking the city.

(23) - The Museo delle Acque
Perugia. Situated in the magical scenery of Monte Pacciano, where a number of ancient water towers are still standing, the Museo delle Acque aims to offer the public a pertinent history of water through the ages up to its growing importance as a resource in contemporary society. Open Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 1pm and from 3 to 6pm.
