Events - Hot Air Balloon Grand Prix in Todi Todi (Pg). From July 12th to 16th Todi will be holding its increasingly popular Gran Premio Italiano Mongolfieristico hot air balloon ‘grand prix’ at Ponte Naia. This year’s edition has already ensured that some forty balloons from all over Europe will be taking part, with a few even from the United States. Lift off is each morning at 6.30am and is best admired from the grassy slopes beneath Todi itself, which command the perfect view over the valley below from which the balloons launch into the skies. All the balloons will be competing for the Rosemary Chisholm Feick International Challenge Cup but will be offering rides to the general public during their spare time at a cost of € 70. The Caccia alla Volpe in Mongolfiera chase involves one hot air balloon setting off fifteen minutes before the rest, at which point the chase begins, with the prize awarded to the balloon that manages to land closest to the one with the head start.
